Two months on, Sanjay Kumar yet to be traced
ITANAGAR, Dec 31: More than two months after the abduction of Sanjay Kumar, a supervisor of Arunachal Pradesh Mineral Development and Trading Corporation Limited (APMDPCL) Coal Mine, Kharsang, Changlang, the authorities are still clueless about his whereabouts and well being.
Sanjay, a native from Bihar was kidnapped on November 24 from Kharsang in Changlang district while he was on his way to the mining fields.
Four armed miscreants are believed to be involved in the kidnapping of Sanjay Kumar.
The miscreants reportedly stopped the vehicle and forced the driver out of his seat. As they were driving towards Namchik, the vehicle broke down at Balithan Tinali. Leaving the driver behind, the kidnappers took Sanjay away on foot. The Cold Field Authorities lodged a complaint the next day and a case was registered at Kharsang Police Stattion case NO. 31/10 U/S 447/365/121/34 IPC R/W SEC 25 (1B)(A) Arms Act.
What is very intriguing is the silence of the Director National Mining Sanjay Aggarwal and APMDTCL and Home department. Even as assurances have been given by the government to secure his release, nothing seemed to have progressed beyond routine formalities.
The anguished relatives of Kumar continue to camp in the Kharsang for the last two months looking for some respite. But their wait so far has been in vain.
In a conversation with this daily, Kumar’s brother in law Nand Kishore Pandit appealed for his safe release. Unhappy at the way investigation is taking such a long time, he urged the authorities to speed up the whole process.
“The family members would want to know where he is and about his safety. We have not given up our hope and we expect that he would be soon reunited with his family members” he said.
But with way things are progressing, it looks very unlikely that there would be good news any sooner.

Meanwhile, the civil society groups has also appealed to all the political parties or organizations and individuals not to take advantage of the situation rather come forward to defuse the tense situation in the interest of humanity so that peace prevails in these districts in the days to come.
Steps taken to solve stapled visa row : Centre
New Delhi, Jan 31: Gopal K Pillai, Home Secretary of India has said that the stapled visa issue will be solved within the next two months. He said this when All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union delegates met him today at North Block, Central Secretariat, New Delhi. Pillai said that concrete steps are being taken to solve the stapled visa row which has become an apple of discord between the two giant neighbouring nations.
“The Union Government took serious exception to the issue and is taking up the matter with Chinese government. Within the next two three months, the problem is expected to have some positive bearing” he said.

Centenarian Lima Borang passes away
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: With the turn of the first month of the New Year and coinciding with the centennial year of Pasighat town, the town has lost a long living friend of it. Lima Borang, a renowned figure of Pasighat who had witnessed the Pasighat town grow since its beginning is no more. He died on Jan 29 around six in the morning due to old age related illness.
Late Borang was born on 1908 at Silluk village. Growing up as an orphan in those
days, he ventured out and migrated to Pasighat in 1935 looking for better pastures
out of his village. At Pasighat coming in contact with the British, Lima got drafted
as an ALC and served as a porter and cook during the World War II in Burma alongside
the British troops. Later participating in the Indo-
After the war, as a civilian he served as a chowkidar at Government Higher Secondary School Pasighat till ripe age.
Though being illiterate and uneducated, Lima Borang emphasised the importance of education to his children as a result of which one of his son is a chest specialist at the State Hospital Naharlagun while the other is an executive engineer working with PWD. He has left behind a dozen grandchildren, two sons and three daughters while his wife still lives on. Living a long life of around 103 years, he had outlived two of his sons. A large number of people including State education minister Bosiram Siram gathered to pay their last respects to the centenarian who was laid to rest at his Pasighat home on Jan 30.
Union says no to further delay
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: All East Siang District Students’ Union” (AESDSU) appealed to the District Administration to organise the upcoming centenary celebration of Pasighat Township in a conducive atmosphere without any further delay.
It further came down heavily on the publicity committee of the celebration whose irresponsible and lackadaisical attitude led to misinterpretation of Siang Bridge as Rajiv Gandhi Setu that created massive confusion among the people of the district few days ago. The union on the other hand appealed to the District Administration to immediately declare the result of the SSA interview held in November 2010 to fill up various vacancies in teaching department in the District for the larger interest of the people of the district. ITANAGAR, Jan 31: Objecting to the tender bidding for allotment of Tourist Lodge on rent basis at Tezu today, Nuney Tayang and Baplalum Chiba, who had taken part in the tender process in a letter to Deputy Commissioner, Lohit District appealed for immediate intervention in the issue and urged him to allot the tourist lodge to those bidder who fulfilled the given norms. Nuney and Chiba said that the allotment of Tourist Lodge on rent basis to the highest bidder was held today. However the highest bidder did not fulfill the requirements of the terms and conditions as prescribed in the application form of the tender.
They said that as per the prescribed norms in the application form in S/l No. 6, past experience or experience in tourism and in other sector was required. However the person who won the bidding did not have the requisite qualification.
The tender application of highest bidder is liable to be cancelled immediately in order to avoid any further legal complicacies, they added.
Meeting decries ransacking of office
ANINI, Jan 31: A coordination meeting was held on Jan 27 at Anini under the initiative of Deputy Commissioner Abu Tayeng.
While presiding over the meeting the DC informed that this was the second coordination meeting in a series of regular coordination meetings planned to be conducted by the district administration.
Most of the speakers felt that the incident in which the EAC’s office chamber had been ransacked was unfortunate and avoidable. The speakers said that all issues could be solved through discussions and other democratic means and vandalism was not the solution to any of the problems.

Muskan shows the way through economic empowerment activities
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: Taking one step more towards its mission of ‘Women’s empowerment’ and welfare of the weaker sections of the society, Muskan Welfare Society will be launching Courses on Basic Computer Knowledge and Spoken/Conversational English in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) at IGNOU Centre, Naharlagun from Feb 2. The Society, headed by First Lady Anupama Singh would also be conducting a Beautician and Tailoring Courses at Oju Welfare Centre, Naharlagun in collaboration with Oji Welfare Association, Naharlagun from Feb 3.

charged from applicants’. Rather, a stipend of Rs. 50/-

ANINI, Jan 31: The 62nd republic Day was celebrated in a befitting manner in Anini.
Deputy Commissioner, Dibang Valley Abu Tayeng, unfurled the tricolour at the general ground.
In his Republic Day address the Deputy Commissioner praised the people of the district for their indomitable spirit and fortitude against all odds. The developmental activities being undertaken by various departments were also highlighted by him. He appealed the people to cooperate with the district administration and other departments for overall development of the district. It is heartening to know that a people of his stature has appealed to the people
of this land of rising sun to make Arunachal Pradesh a "Bandh-
His mission "catch-
There is still lots of things to learn from the Governor, who has spared most of his life for the cause of the nation.
His vast experience and knowledge, who served the nation in various capacities, including the chief of army, would definitely help Arunachal and its people in every sphere of life.
As General J.J Singh has already appealed for "Bandh-
I, being a poor fellow denizen, humbly request leaders of all organizations, especially students organizations, to stop this Bandh culture. If at all a bandh is unavoidable, measure the depth of the problem first. Then go ahead. If you don't have courage to withstand against all odds, please don't even voice for bandh.
Do leaders of any organizarion, system, parties etc, denizens like to see a vibrant,
peaceful, livable Arunachal Pradesh? To achieve it, we have to make our state a violence-

A good step forward
Dear Editor,
The initiative under National Action plan on climate change is not only a revolutionary vision to save the planet for longer time but it’s the ultimate visualization whether or not in contrary this is the best call from CM ever since he is in the office, which in a way is in my opinion the beginning of real and fresh maturity. I hope such developmental project shall be undertaken not for namesake or under pressure from any quarter on the forest department, but with pure carefulness showing progress and effectiveness of each individual having a comprehensive understanding of climate change and also showing the competitiveness of one's expertise that qualifies him in the concern department.
The interest of the local people today in basic infrastructure such as roads, electricity and other human amenities have of course grown from its initial scale but the age old understanding may be for their own personal passion is still remaining, which in fact or even if you call it by chance is conducive towards the environment.
I don't want to sound cynical but why as a matter of the truth, individuals, NGO's are always called to participate when such participation is under political discretion. 90% of our planning remains in speech draft, which after a certain limit sounds exasperating. Today there is no workshop on climate change, so naturally many of us who attended the workshop may not be as enthusiastic as we were during the workshop and so also for the speakers; especially having inborn habit of being insincere, I’m sure at the moment their minds don’t have to rush back to back on details of prepared speeches and a good deal of rhetoric words. So here is a remainder, let’s preserve forest.

Take the people not the land

HQ. We the Adi people also wish and encourage a peaceful settlement of the district
issue. Without any intention to intrude the feelings of people of proposed new district,
we being the neighbouring tribe would like to draw the attention towards curbing
out Nari-
I want to focus on the boundary of Yemsing village bordering the inter-

We the Yemsing villagers also vehemently object the ABK’s press release mentioning
few villages as determined to remain in the East Siang district. This was an act
of immaturity on ABK’s part without knowing the ground level and truth behind the
history of the land and its inheritance. Who ABK is to allow the temporal inhabitants
with rights to merge with land which Yemsing villagers traditionally own? We urged
the state government to rethink and reshape the proposed boundary of the new district
by excluding Nai-
We also appeal to the District Demand Committee to take such step which strengthen
the harmony among both the communities. In case they are very must interested in
adding the people of Nari-

Madness need to be reined
Dear Editor,
Alas! Another mad rush of rich brat in the capital city yet again claimed an innocent life. Death caused to late Techi Taha is a tremendous loss to the Nyishi community.
The maddening speed cultures adopted by the youngster bikers in our capital are dreadful. Lanes are narrow, but to make their circus show awful before the public, these rich brats’ speeds through the crowded lanes zig zaging without any concern for the life and properties of the public. Therefore these speed culture needs to be beaten down with iron hands.
The spot where Late Techi Taha was hit to death by the mad bikers is a straight and clear road. It is obvious, had there been a little carefulness on the part of the bikers the incident could have been averted. But their quest of mad rashness prevailed over the human prudence and such tragic death has been caused. Accidents are of various natures; like mechanical failure of controlling apparatus, unavoidable collisions, confuse hits etc. But the present incident is not within the definition of any accident. Because the bikers knew well that flying in such maddening speed in that crowded area is sure to cause injury or losses to the public and their properties. Every act of causing injury and loss should not be termed as accident. Accident means unwarranted and unavoidable. But in this case, the mad bikers knew that such killer speed is sure to kill someone amongst the public and innocent Techi Taha turned out their victim. Their conduct also warrants drastic steps against them. One of the bikers ran away after hitting Techi Taha. One fell down from the bike and got injured, so he could not manage fleeing off. It is certain that he would also have fled away had his physical state permitted him. Such bikers should never be spared at any cost and should be taught deterrent lessons for all the mad bikers.
How long the poor public should be left as the object of romance and adventure of such mad bikers? Is their quest for maddening biking more significant than the safety of general public? Every now and then mad bikers hit, kill in the Capital cities and flee away. Today it was Techi Taha, tomorrow it would be your turn, my turn or our relatives.
Legal provisions relating to road accidents are very lenient to such incidents, so are the law enforcing authorities. Therefore, resolution of such ruthless acts should not be left to the law and law enforcing authorities for the eternal peace of the soul of the deceased. In law, classifications of such offense are bailable, hence if left to the loose law; they shall be enlarged on bail immediately. Punishments are also very lenient and killers can easily be set free on the provisions of the Probations OF Offenders Act 1958 and other related provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code 1973. Therefore bail should not be objected and they should be made to release forthwith and dealt with personally with strong hand for the ends of justice. Justice will be defeated if the case is left to the loose laws and Law enforcing authorities.
Since the Government is having no interest in bringing up any needful reforms in this ends, we public should be deterrent against such dangerous behaviors of the mad bikers of the capitals for the safety of our lives and properties.

Wait for HPC
Dear Editor,
In the midst of controversies surrounding the location for Hq of Lower Siang district, i would like to appeal the Galo Welfare Society to remain as a neutral body whose interference is only delaying the process.
Lower Siang belongs to all Arunachal Pradesh and not Likabali, Nari or Basar. The govt has constituted a High Power Committee to look into the matter, hence instead of looking for individualistic gains we should cooperate whole heartedly with it.
All HQ demand committees have submitted their proposals and we have full faith that the HPC who are comprised of intellectuals and eminent personalities will do justice in looking through the merits. The people of Garu have pledged to donate lands required for govt establishments. Siji village and Garu is centrally located and such merits should also be taken into consideration.

Normally, when human beings encounter a situation where in the lives of thier near or dear ones are in grave danger, they forgets themselves and acts instantly to save the lives of the one they loves. The danger/perils that may cause to his own well being because of his act never crosses his mind and just in a flicker of seconds, the efforts to save lives posses his spirit. The recognition, praises and awards for such acts never crosses his mind when he contemplates such daredevil acts.

Respect and remember to the contributors
Dear Editor,
It is our moral duty to respect, remember and reward those people who had an emmnese contribution towards the society.
All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) deserves appreciations from all for remembering and recognizing Rungki Nabam’s contribution towards the society. We must find out other such persons, who had contributed a lot in various fields, but are now in oblivion. Every union, NGO, individual should come forward and effort should be made to identify those great men, especially of old age and poor one, who can’t publicize themselves for recognition due to their present conditions.
Rungki Nabam was the pioneer in establishing Itanagar as capital of the state. Today, more than 90% (approx.) of capital dwellers or people of the state donot know Rungbi and how Itanagar became capital of Arunachal Pradesh.
I support AAPSU’s demand to the State Government for felicitating Rungbi. This will set a good trend and motivate younger generation to do noble works.

An open letter to Basar MLA
Dear Editor,
I on behalf of Tirbin Unemployed Youth Association (TUYA), would like to place the greavances of people of Tirbin circle before our local MLA ( Basar Assembly Constituency) for immediately redressal.
Tirbin circle comprising 31 villages with a population of around 7000 has been facing numerous problems, like youth unemployment, communication bottleneck, electricity, poor health services and infrastructure in various educational institutions. The two middle schools upgraded in 1990 remained defunct and remaining four and the lone higher secondary school are running without proper infrastructure facilities and required teachers. Electrification to most of the villages is yet to be done.
Also, there is no provision of drinking water supply in many villages, like Tedu Doke where people still depend on natural stream water for their day to day use. Moreover, the lone primary health centre of the circle is running without proper infrastructures and sufficient medicines.
It is worth mentioning here that the Tirbin Unemployed Youth Association (TUYA) had organized an awareness tour programme in April, 2009 in various villages of the circle and took stock of their problems and submitted memorandum to the local MLA for early redressal of their greavances.
But the MLA has not yet taken any initiative or necessary steps to redress the grievances. Rather, it is alleged that he has misused the developmental funds like SPA,MLALADS etc. by awarding contract works to some particular individuals.
The people of this circle including youths and public have been supporting him since the beginning of his political career with a hope that he will fulfill the people’s aspirations.
We appeal to our local MLA to implement the developmental schemes properly and make equal distribution of funds in proper manner so that development reaches to every village under Tirbin circle.

House burnt
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: The members of the Kargu Kardi Welfare Society (KKWS) in a meeting held on Jan 31 deeply regretted the loss of belongings and assets of one of its member, Nyokar Yomgam, in a fire accident at Akker Yomgam Village under Yomcha Circle of West Siang district.
Yomgam’s house along with its granary was completely burnt to ashes on Jan 30. The Society members urged the Government to look into the matter with utmost sympathy and to take necessary action for immediate relief. It also asked its District Unit and its fellow members to donate and help the family at the earliest.

ITANAGAR, Jan 31: Arunachal Indigenous Peoples’ Union (AIPU) conducted literary events
at Vivekananda Hall, RKM Itanagar from January 17-
Altogether 152 students participated in various literary events like essay writing, quiz and drawing competitions.
The winners of the literary competition will be distributed on February 2 at Vivekananda Hall and on the occasion indigenous cultural show will also be displayed.
Animal Health Camp
ITANAGAR, Jan 31: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tirap, in collaboration with veterinary dispensary, Deomali organized a day long Animal Health camp at Sipini village under Namsang CD block of Tirap today. The camp was coordinated by Dr Jitumoni Das and his team from veterinary dispensary, Deomali.
During the day around 28 livestock farmers got benefited. All together 111 domestic animals were vaccinated against FMD. Main aim of camp was to vaccination of cattle and goat against FMD, castration and treatment of livestock and poultry.

The society viewed seriously about catchment treatment area of LSHEP and decided to urge the authority concerned to reexamine the ground realities of project affected area. It has also appealed to the deputy commissioner duo of Upper Subansiri and West Siang to look into the matter seriously and give necessary direction to the DFOs concerned to avoid future complicacies.
Prominent social worker dies
ITANAGAR: The teachers, students of the Govt Middle School, Chebang and general people of Chebang village deeply condoled the death of Kipa Rade, the 1st nominated vice president under panchayati Raj system in the state. He died after prolonged illness on Jan 20 last at the age of above 100 years.
Son of Late Kipa Talam, he was the 1st GB among the Kipa clan and first nominated vice president for Nyapin, Palin and Koloriang circles during the introduction of the Panachayati Raj system in the state. After expiry of vice presidentship, Govt appointed him as HGB, though he remained as simple GB till his death.
He was the renowned social activist during post independent era and one of the prominent participants in the function organised during the visit of the 1st Prime Minister of India Pt Jawaharlal Nehru at Ziro in 1964 as host from the three circles. His last rituals ceremony was performed in presence of large number of villagers including GBs, panchayat leader and youths on Jan 21.
